Rex first came through TCAS doors as a tiny 2-month-old puppy. He was adopted, grew up, and through no fault of his own has now found himself back here again as a young adult dog trying to figure things out all over again. He is neutered and ready to go home today!

Rex is about 49 pounds and is one of those dogs that really pulls at the heartstrings for staff. For the most part, Rex does very well with staff and volunteers and tends to warm up quickly to people he sees regularly. He loves playing fetch, tearing around the yard with zoomies, and spending time with the people he trusts.

That said, Rex can be selective about who he is comfortable with, and because of behaviors observed both here and in his previous home, he is only available to an approved, experienced adopter willing to continue helping him succeed.

Rex will do best with someone who understands the importance of structure, routine, continued training, and advocacy. He needs clear expectations, consistency, and someone willing to put in the time to help him continue building confidence and making good choices. Rex would not be a good fit for a home with children.

His history with other dogs is unknown, though we suspect he may be selective about canine companions. His history with cats is also unknown.

Rex’s adoption fee is $50 at Tri-Cities Animal Services. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms.

Stan is a 3-4 year old Border Collie mix who is with Pit Bull Pen Rescue. He is a good boy who is cuddly, attentive, goofy, loving and so incredibly deserving of a chance to have a life of his own.

Our community fought so hard for Stan. He went to board and training in Gig Harbor and learned about trusting people. Stan needs someone willing to understand him, continue helping him and love him through the process. Help find Stan his forever home!

Willy, now at Benton Franklin Humane Society, is a 2.5 year old Bull Terrier Mix. Willy’s story is one of heartbreak and resilience. When he first arrived at our shelter in 2023, he was just a puppy-full of hope and quickly adopted into what we thought would be his forever home. Sadly, this year Willy returned to us in devastating condition-severely emaciated and neglected.  It appeared he had been left in a crate, forgotten and unwanted.  With carefully feedings, vet care and love, he has regained his weight, strength and spirit. He is a gentle soul who loves walks, outdoor adventures or simply lounging in the yard with his person. He walks politely on a leash and is happiest just being near people who care for him.

Because Willy missed out on proper training as a puppy, he’ll need patience and consistency as he learns the ropes of potty training and basic manners. But what he lacks in training, he makes up for in sweetness and a forgiving heart.
